I Fall To Pieces

Here's a gorgeous song featuring a massively talented vocalist, with a brilliantly understated arrangement, and equally brilliantly understated production -- in my humble opinion, of course.

It was written by Hank Cochran and Harlan Howard and sung by Patsy Cline, who was killed in a plane crash in 1963 at the age of 30.

Here's the studio version, from 1961:

And here's a live performance. The mix is not great but it was spun live by people who had next to no technology, as we would see it now. It's quite remarkable in my opinion. And of course it's a humble opinion.

What a singer! What a tragic loss!

I fall to pieces
Each time I see you again
I fall to pieces
How can I be just your friend?

You want me to act like we've never kissed
You want me to forget (to forget)
Pretend we never met (never met)
And I've tried and I've tried
But I haven't yet
You walk by and I fall to pieces

I fall to pieces
Each time someone speaks your name
I fall to pieces
Time only adds to the flame

You tell me to find someone else to love
Someone who'll love me too (love me too)
The way you used to do (used to do)
But each time I go out with someone new
You walk by and I fall to pieces
You walk by and I fall to pieces
