Still Falls The Rain

This is Roxy Music, from "Manifesto" (1979).

It was their first album in four years, and at that point there were four "charter" members:

Bryan Ferry: vocals and piano (but no piano on this song)
Andy Mackay: saxophones and oboe (just sax on this one)
Phil Manzanera: guitars (one guitar at a time, usually)
Paul Thompson: drums (all of 'em)

They were playing with:

Paul Carrack: keyboards and vocals
David Skinner: keyboards and vocals
Alan Spenner: bass
Gary Tibbs: bass and vocals

Of the latter four, I can't tell you who played on what, and when ... but I can tell you that I have loved this song ever since the first time I heard it!

Here's the studio version:

We also have two live versions; the first audio-only:

And the second one with video!

Dear Hyde
No more can I explain
I've tried
With words in vain
They pass you by
Like falling rain
From perfect skies
Still falls the rain
Inside

Hey brother don't be square
Here it is not over there
I'm your man
Got it made
You feed my fire
You need my shade

You're here Hyde
Once more inspired
This strangely tied
Uncertain frame
So torn inside
Still falls the rain
Two minds
One vein
Still falls the rain
Inside

Hey Doctor don't be scared
It's you and me so where's my share?
I'm the man
Move aside
Call me Mister
Just call me Hyde

Hey lover don't be shy
I'm a single minded guy
Better watch me
Boy I'm rough
Half a man ain't strong enough

Hey brother don't be square
Here it is not over there
I'm your man
Got it made
You feed my fire
You need my shade
