We've been enjoying some lovely guitar solos, so now is a good time to introduce a very lovely tune from a very lovely guy and a fabulous player, too: Peter Frampton.
Peter came to my attention as the very young and very good jazzy soloist in Humble Pie, who were one of the heaviest rock bands of their time. But he also has an ear for delicate, beautiful music. And he has the technique to make it happen, too!
The studio version of "Penny For Your Thoughts" was recorded in 1972 and it goes like this:
Several years later, he played at a very fun concert, the recording of which became the multi-zillion selling "Frampton Comes Alive!
There are some other nice clips around and this is one of them; from much later, in Nashville:
On the other hand maybe I might like this one better:
We'll hear Humble Pie soon, too. But let's savor this one first.
Would this be a bad place to link to one of my favorite bloggers? Probably not!
